Interaction in English takes many forms—ranging from classroom interaction among peers or between learner and teacher to real-life communication between and among speakers from various cultures around the world—and makes use of many different channels, including those involving the latest forms of information technology. Continuing theoretical and empirical inquiry into all aspects of the role, actual and potential, played by social interaction in the teaching of English as a second or foreign language, especially with regard to cross-cultural issues, is crucially important to the advancement of English-teaching theory, pedagogy and practice. This conference will therefore focus on the following issues:

Paper: The paper should be a complete study based on a sound theoretical framework and empirical investigation. 30minutes are allotted for each presentation, including 5-10 minutes for questions and discussion.
Workshop: A workshop should involve attendees in actual teaching and learning activities. 50 minutes are allotted for each workshop session. Panel discussion: 3-4 panelistsgive short presentations on a common topic and interact with one another and the audience. 60 minutes are allotted for a symposium presentation. Graduate students paper presentation: The study should be a complete work on a clear theme and with solid theoretical foundation. 30 minutes are allotted for each presentation, including 5-10 minutes for questions and discussion. *All presentations can be delivered in either Chinese or English. Submission Guidelines 1. Each submission should include the following information and items: (a) Name of the contributor in both Chinese and English, professional affiliation, current position, cell, office and home phone numbers, as well as email and mailing addresses. List the above items in Contributor Data Form that can be downloaded from the conference website. (b) An abstract of 250-300 words in English, along with a list of keywords (no more than six) for papers in English. An additional English abstract with English keywords for papers written in Chinese. 2. Submissions should be made electronically in MS Office 2007 (or a compatibility mode) as e-mail attachments to the following email address:

. 3. Submitted abstracts will be subject to a blind review by two reviewers. The full papers of the accepted abstracts are encouraged to submit to Hwa Kang English Journal for publication. |
